We’re rather quite curious about Fading Shadows. It’s a PSP-exclusive puzzle game released in Europe not too long ago. However, it currently has no release date for the US. Our friends at PSP GadgetZ have some excellent gameplay videos of the game in action. It intrigues us: not only are the graphics attractive, but we’re curious as to how it plays. Check out all of the videos on YouTube.
In the two months since MTV Networks and Harmonix released the music-based videogame “Rock Band,” players have purchased and downloaded more than 2.5 million additional songs made available after the game’s initial distribution.
You know, we sort of figured there might be another Street Fighter someday, and lo and behold, Capcom has announced Street Fighter 4. The news was broken by Games Radar, though the story has since been pulled for reasons unknown. The game was apparently announced during a Capcom Gamer’s Day event in London. The game is more than a year away, so don’t start camping out at GameStop just yet. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is all we know. It could be 2D. It could be 3D. It could be some kind of card game for all we know. Feel free to speculate in the comments.
Before I started playing World of Warcraft, I hadn’t played any other MMORPGS.As a matter of fact, I didn’t even play video games regularly at all.I was always fascinated by hearing horror stories about the crazy things people did while playing Everquest. But I was also amazed by achievements and the vastness of the settings.
I’ve been playing WoW for about two years now.My boyfriend suggested I try it.I was hesitant to begin my adventures in Azeroth.I was afraid that buying the game would be a waste of money. I dragged my feet as I walked into the game store and grimaced a bit as the clerk swiped my debit card.I was dreadful at navigating in video games and was overwhelmed by the amount game knowledge it took to be successful. It took me about ten months to get my first level 60 character.I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I first started playing.I really wish I had discovered WoW Rookie sooner. In the end, I discovered that WoW is awesome. I love being part of the community.
Do you know of Cho Aniki? The hardcore shooter crowd knows this notorious title because of its ridiculous premise: you play a motley crew of mostly naked men firing energy missiles at other enemies, also usually mostly-naked men. The upcoming PSP game seems to be based on the original PC Engine title, meaning the increasingly strange and homoerotic imagery found in later games will most likely be absent in this upcoming PSP game. It may be based on the most tame version of the series, but it will undoubtedly become another hit amongst the cult shooter crowd.
Read more on the series’ legacy at Wikipedia — and then for a more humorous take, check out Something Awful (content may be not safe for work). A video of the game, embedded after the cut.
Despite Silicon Knights being in the middle of a major lawsuit, the company still needs to make finish games and do business. The Too Human developer is planning to add 80 employees to its studio thanks in part to a Canadian initiative called the Niagara Interactive Media Generator (nGen), which seeks to “nurture a new generation of interactive entertainment companies.”
The Welland Tribune reports nGen is a partnership that includes Brock University, Niagara College, regional and city governments, Niagara Economic Development Corp. and the Niagara Enterprise Agency. The Ministry of Culture will provide $245,000 to nGen’s two-year $560,000 budget. Hopefully Silicon Knights will put those kids to work fast and finally get Too Human out the door sometime in ‘08.
The dog detective and his rabbity-thing companion are back for “Moai” adventure in Sam & Max: Moai Better Blues. This time they hop over to Easter Island for some R&R, only to discover things are about to get explosive with a volcano eruption. That’s the fine wine GameTap is serving up this week — the service’s other offerings are a bit more like vinegar.
After the break we have GameTap’s list of free games, including this week’s addition, Black Tiger. Still haven’t played any Sam & Max yet? Be sure to check out Episode 4 Abe Lincoln Must Die! in the free section to get your paws wet with punny humor.
In the midst of random industry non-news and other things of little importance comes three screens of the upcoming powerhouse action game, Kung fu Panda. Based on the upcoming movie of the same name, Kung fu Panda allows players to embark on an epic adventure as they master the specialized Kung Fu fighting styles of, title character, Po the Panda. OK, we’ll stop pretending like this is Halo 4 but Activision has done well with their translations of G rated films in both sales and execution. While previous movie-based games will hardly win a gameplay award, they always look polished and fun. Also, we hear the points are pretty easy to get - so sign us up.
In what may or may not be good news today from the Blizzard Store, it looks like the Blizzard Authenticator was back on sale for a short time. It sold out rather early, and there was some rockiness with some orders, but it looks like Blizzard’s at least trying to get back on track in delivering this extra layer of account security. Unfortunately, although it was showing as purchasable just an hour ago, it once again shows up as Sold Out currently.
There’s no word yet on whether they’ve fixed any problems with keeping the Authenticator in stock, so it may be that they simply got in one shipment and are waiting for another. Hopefully, that shipment comes soon and they can work out their stocking problems a little more permanently. Until then, I’d sit tight and wait a bit. At the least, you don’t want to be like the poor folks tipster Aaron pointed out to us, who are bidding up to $93.00 for one on eBay.
Thanks to everyone who sent us a heads up on this!
After being reunited with our dear friends from Oceanic Flight 815 this past Thursday, we’re suffering from a pretty severe reoccurance of Lost fever — luckily, this new trailer came along just in time to satiate our hunger for tropical island adventures. The game looks gorgeous, and seems to be very faithful to the show, apart from a few characters who are not voiced by the actors who played them in the show — the most jarring of these being John Locke, who sounds like a slightly bewildered Steven Seagal throughout this trailer.
Of course, every good Lost fan knows to look out for branded sharks and hidden messages — which this one-and-a-half minute trailer has plenty of. We’ll leave it to you to find these single-frame clues. What do you think — is there some significance to these blips, or is this just another four-toed statue?
