This is it, the final chance to win Ikaruga if you haven’t already entered. Remember, unlike our typical giveaways, you can only enter once. If you’ve already entered, you’re covered. Those of you who haven’t entered, get to it (you have one hour as of this post). We don’t know why you haven’t already, honestly. Maybe you were away on business. Maybe you were tied up in the basement and have only now reached a computer, desperate to reach out for somebody, anybody who can help. We say wait just one minute before contacting the authorities and enter our giveaway first. Remember fanboys: swag first, rescue second.

We’ve joked before that, with all of the resignations post Gerstmann-gate, Gamespot’s content must be generated by a lonely janitor in the offices, taking a break from picking gum out of the carpet. We’re sad to report that his life is about to be even harder: Editor Brad Shoemaker (who has written for the site for eight years) will leave the company this Friday. He hasn’t reveled where he’s headed, but he’s maintaining a personal blog to keep fans up-to-date.
The list of departures from the site is getting long enough that we’ll soon have to set it to the tune of the “William Tell Overture” to remember it all. But for right now it’s at Jason Ocampo, Ryan Davis, Alex Navarro, Frank Provo and, of course, Jeff Gerstmann himself. Just so we know, is this officially “fiasco” level yet? Are we at Code Fiasco?
[Thanks, Robert]

Raid Rx is designed to encapsulate and cure the shock and horror that is 25-man raid healing. Ok, so it’s mostly horror… Anyways, if you’re a big fan of X-TREME Whack-A-Mole (or are being forced into it against your will) this is the column for you. That above is the fun product of Wordle. I creatively call it “WoW WWS Healing”. Click on it to give it a spin of your own.
So, if you’ve just randomly stumbled upon this multi-part saga on WWS meets healing, here’s a lovely link to get you caught up. For the rest of you operating with mere short term memory lapses, this link right here will transport you to the example WWS we’ve been mulling about. But more on that after the jump.

Since the inception of the arena system in WoW, players have been very creative in finding ways to boost their ratings. First it was a matter of highly-ranked teams selling slots to less skilled players. Lately the subject of trading wins and losses has been the buzz. Blizzard has taken the steps that they feel necessary, such as instituting the personal rating system, to combat the issue.
In a thread entitled “Selling arena teams ok/not ok?” Legolawls reiterated the subject of team leaders selling off points, and blue posts condoned the behavior. That player feels that selling violates the spirit of the game. This elicited a responses from both Crepe and Turtle (via Auryk) saying that there are currently no rules preventing the sale of an Arena team. Interestingly they even hinted that entire team sales are acceptable. As long as the transaction occurs only in-game it is considered to be a legitimate service. Team captains are free to sell slots or even their entire teams as they see fit. If the team were being sold outside of game, for a real cash sum, the matter would be different.

Demented teenager, apocalypse survivor, bubble boy, bottom boi and now the Prince of Persia. Jake Gyllenhaal has been cast to play the title “roll” (tumble, flip) in The Prince of Persia movie adaptation produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Before the complaining begins, it could’ve been worse (read: it could’ve been Orlando Bloom).
Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a sixth century Persian prince who joins up with Tamina (played by nooblet Gemma Arterton) in an attempt to prevent The Bad Guy from using the Sands of Time. Production begins in July, so Jake’s got plenty of time for the serious waxing and spray-on tanning necessary for the role.

It’s funny. The reaction to both a nuclear disaster and the release of a long-awaited sequel is essentially the same. You want to stock up on food and supplies, get indoors, seal the exits, and come to terms with the fact that you may never see your family again. Yes,
Fallout 3 comes out this week. There are other games coming out this week too. You can read about those below. You know, if you want.

A few days ago, we covered a
parody of the celebrity
World of Warcraft commercials appearing on a television near you. What does John have, in this third and
final spoof in a series, that
William Shatner, Mr. T,
Willy Toledo, and
Jean Claude van Damme don’t? A sexy blood elf paladin.
John faces many obstacles in his gaming, from being an evil Horde in the “flamboyant” Silver Moon City, to playing a female character because he can’t get close to real girls. If you’re looking for an Alliance parody, check out the
second video from
Iceflow Studios, about Brad, the Human Rogue. He definitely saved the best for last, though.

Our mother ship (which is more commonly known as Joystiq) just got the scoop on
eight new Rock Band bonus songs thanks to a few tipsters and Harmonix being a tad careless with classified info.
After watching 1UP’s latest
Rock Band video preview, a few Joystiq tipsters spotted seven “yet to be officially announced” bonus tracks, each broken up into separate categories based on their difficulty. Then, another tipster mentioned that the Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives’
MySpace page confirmed their track “I Get By” to be a bonus track too. Bonus songs we’re sure the EA gods didn’t want anyone to see just yet, but can be viewed after the break.
And after doing a little math and adding up the game’s
45 officially confirmed tracks with the newly discovered eight bonus songs we get 53 out of the 58 total. Only five more to go.
Eight New Rock Band Bonus Tracks:
Apprentice
The Konks’ “29 Fingers”
Vagiant’s “Seven”
Solid Songs
Flyleaf’s “I’m So Sick”
The Mother Hips’ “Time We Had”
Moderate Songs
Anarchy Club’s “Blood Doll”
The Acro-Brat’s “Day Late, Dollar Short”
Crooked X’s “Nightmare”
Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives “I Get By”

Do you like that headline creativity? The subtitle could be “God, whatever this thing is we wish it would pop its frakking head out of the ice already so we can all move on with our lives.” Regardless, today we must soldier on, and bravely speculate about the hidden mysteries of Blizzard’s splash page.
So, what’s new today? Well, those eye slits from yesterday are most certainly eyes now, and there’s a ridge of some sort between them. Our friends at WoW Insider seemed to be inclined to think it’s Warcraft’s Arthas, and honestly, they make a pretty compelling case. So, it looks like an answer may be close at hand, so it may be your last chance to speculate: Who’s beneath the ice?
[Update: After the jump we have a picture that focuses on one of the runes, one that happens to bear a striking resemblance to the Protoss logo you can see here. Thanks Charlesgrand!]
