We were intrigued by yesterday’s news that God of War II lead Cory Barlog would be working with George Miller, of Mad Max and soon-to-be Justice League flick fame. But even in our nerdiest fantasies we hadn’t let our hearts dream of something this sweet: Barlog and Miller are toiling on a Mad Max action-adventure game, based on Mad Max: Fury Road, an entry in the film series put on hold in 2003 by the Iraq war.

It’s in the early stages right now, but expect “melee weapons, projectile weapons and vehicles.” Oh, and no Mel Gibson, surprising no one. Even though we don’t know much, what more do you need to know? Mad Max. George Miller. Cory Barlog. Two men enter! One game leaves!

I’m able to roll with the changes. I can accept I can’t bring more than 3oz. of water through a security checkpoint because an over-eager Homeland exec thought 24 was a documentary. We live in Changed Times. At least that’s what the TSA guy said as he instructed me to bend over and I heard the snap of a latex glove. But this delay on receiving gold from auctions may have pushed me to take action. I’d write my Senator, but since his claim to fame is driving a good-looking woman off a bridge in Chappaquiddick (a family record his nephew beat when he flew two good looking women into the ocean off Martha’s Vineyard), I don’t see where he’s going to help.

We all know why this was added. Those wily gold resellers came up with a fun way to get around the delay-in-mailing-gold problem by having you sell spare ribs for 5k gold. I don’t know about you, but when I heard that I laughed my arse off. Talk about a way to game the system.

Changes like this make me think Blizzard hired that guy that forced NyQuil to now have the potency of children’s aspirin. Really, whom do they think they are kidding here? If someone is going buy the gold to get their epic flyer it’s unlikely they are going to hover their mouse over the checkout button and go: Ya know, I’d really like to just buy the 5k gold and not have to farm motes for the next five days, but, now that I think about it with the hour delay in the AH, I’ll just go farm it.

My AH needs are modest. Once I’ve got a backpack full of whatever I’ll send it off to my mule before I go to bed. Over the next few days I’m likely to wonder where the heck that backpack full of motes and skins went. Then I slap myself upside the head, log on the mule and hit the auction house. I’ll then forget about the mule for a few days again. I don’t think that my usage is all that different than most folks, and even if it’s not, the delay in getting your gold isn’t a big enough issue to force Bono to hold a benefit concert. Really, the only people I see this affecting are day traders. If you’re one of those people sitting there going, “Gordon, I heard Blizzard is going to change the drop rates on Clefthoof Leather by -.94384384%, It’s going for 50 gold a stack right now, but tomorrow it’ll be going for 52. BUY BUY BUY!” well, you’re playing a whole different game than I am.

Blizzard isn’t going to stop gold farming by putting in delays to the mail and auction house. You want to stop gold farming? The answer is simple: make radical design changes that eliminate the need for gold and barter-able items. Because if it isn’t a Reselling Gold Farmer stealing all the good-dropping mobs it’s someone just farming gold to get their own mount. While people liken gold reselling to supporting terrorism, the harsh truth is that gold is entering the game largely through legal means. People buying gold are just outsourcing the farming they themselves would be required to do to get items.

Before the cries of “Heretic! Heretic! Burn him!” ensue in the comments I want to make sure the point of this isn’t lost: in order to truly eliminate gold reselling, the reason why people feel the need to purchase gold has to be addressed. And that’s likely to result in changes none of us want to deal with.

For those of you not buying pitchforks and torches in the AH, what say you: How much pain and suffering are you willing to put up if the result is the elimination of third-party reselling?

Are you the kind of vault dweller not wanting to seek life outside your safe vault dwelling but still longing for excitement? Bethesda is hiring Quality Assurance (QA) testers for the upcoming Fallout 3. Sure, you get to play the game before anyone else, but as an added incentive, Bethesda’s Ashley Cheng notes that top testers usually get pulled to be interns for the company.

The developer diary for Fallout 3 has also been updated to give a profile for the Brotherhood of Steel, as well as show off some concept art for the game that you can also peruse in our gallery below. Fallout 3 is still slated for a Fall 2008 release.

If the world was ruled by Telltale Games everyone would respect talking animals and Sam & Max would be on the Xbox Live Arcade, the second part at least is the word from Telltale’s Emily Morganti. In an interview with Jim Squires from THEBBPS, Morganti confirmed the developer still wants Sam & Max to visit the Arcade.

“We’d still like to do it. Our tools currently allow us to develop for PC, Xbox 360, and Wii,” Morganti said. “We’re not ruling out other platforms in the future. We’re interested in PlayStation, also… we want our games to be everywhere!”

Sam & Max has been a popular series for Telltale as the episodic adventure series has found success releasing exclusively with GameTap’s online service– a PC version of Sam & Max: Season One was recently released to retail.

With the recent release of Penny Arcade Adventures’ first episode on Xbox Live Arcade and the recent increase of file size for downloadable games, we’re hoping Sam & Max can find a home on the Xbox 360 in the very near future.

Have you ever wondered what to do with your spare battleground marks? You’ve got all the PvP mounts and are well stocked up on potions. It looks like in patch 2.4 you will be able tot urn them in for honor. Our friends at MMO Champion posted a screenshot of the new repeatable battleground quest. To complete the quest, just bring the quest a mark of honor from each of the four battlegrounds and they hand you honor. The first time you complete the quest you also get about twelve gold along with the honor. Each subsequent turn-in is worth 319 honor, no gold.

Ubisoft seems to be pairing up with everyone these days to promote the upcoming 10th Anniversary title in the Rainbow Six franchise, Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Ubisoft and the Guinness World Records have teamed up to bring the gaming world the first official marathon session of multiplayer gaming, where a few gamers will get to play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on Xbox 360 for a solid 24-hour stretch.

Taking part in the attempt will be the UK Frag Dolls (which are sponsored by Ubisoft): Jam, Kitt and Sarin. The attempt will take place in the UK from the March 21 - 24 where all 1,500 tickets to join in the fun live have already sold out. If the dolls are able to compete for a straight 24-hour session of gaming Guinness World Records will induct the event, Ubisoft and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 into the 2009 edition of the world-famous record catalog.

Gamers connected are invited to join in the fraggin’ fun over Xbox Live when the game launches later this month.

To be perfectly honest, Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command has flown under the radar around here as evidenced by its exclusion from this week’s Worldwide PSP Releases feature despite its Nov. 12 release date. In our defense, though, publisher THQ didn’t exactly break the bank in publicizing the game or ensure very many assets made it into the gaming media’s hands.

However, Games Workshop did manage to sneak out a short demo that gave a very small taste of what gamers can expect from the game. In spite of its length deficiency, the demo definitely showed the game had promise.

To show our remorse, we present you with the game’s launch trailer, which THQ kindly sent out two days after the game’s actual release.

The man who makes Silent Hill sound so creepy, Konami’s Akira Yamaoka, has been working with an American team to bring you Silent Hill 5 and as a result, has a pretty unique perspective on how Japanese and U.S. teams compare. His conclusion? The future isn’t particularly bright for Japanese houses. “[The U.S teams’] graphical and technical ability is amazing,” he says. “There’s a huge gap, actually. They’re very advanced. I’m Japanese, and I think this is not just with Silent Hill but with the whole of the industry — I look at what American developers are doing and I think wow … Japan is in trouble.”

He elaborates on the problems, citing too much pressure on aging developers and the language barrier slowing some development. We would have guessed that the troubles would stem from trying to work under the constant threat of ninja attack, but it should be noted that we’re not big readers.

We sure love Xbox Live Marketplace. Today we have a new trailer for Infinite Undiscovery, a new RPG from Sqare Enix. Unfortunately, the trailer is somewhat old, though we seem to have missed it, so it might be new to you if you never leave the comfy confines of X3F (and really, you shouldn’t). The game centers around a world that worships its moon. Of course, something awful is happening to the moon — it’s careening towards the planet — so the world is suffering as well. Given that, we’re guessing the goal of the game is to right whatever is wrong with the moon. The game features real time environments in which the game’s action takes place. This counts for both environmental interactions and combat, which is definitely intriguing to those losing interest in the traditional Japanese RPG formula. Go download the trailer if you so desire, or feel free to watch it embedded above.

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling (”fourzerotwo” to you Call of Duty 4 fans) promised us something different from the game’s first map pack, and Gamespot recently got a hands-on with two of the maps to put that to the test. The first map is called “Broadcast,” set in the TV station from the single-player mission “Charlie Don’t Surf.” The largely indoor level has been expanded significantly from the single-player campaign though.

Next up is “Creek,” a sprawling outdoor map full of natural cover from foliage and (you guessed it) a creek. There will be two more maps in the final pack, “Chinatown” and “Killhouse,” which is apparently inspired by the single-player campaign’s training level. You can read more about all of them right here.
