Question. What do you get when you mix the powerful Havoc physics engine, the Euphoria AI engine and a pinch of digital molecular matter technology? Well, in Lucas Arts’ case, you get a game that goes by the name of Star Wars: Force Unleashed and its freakin’ amazing gameplay.
Embedded above is a a tech demo video where you can witness how Force Unleashed masterly blends each engine, each program and each effect into one cohesive gameplay experience. It’s crazy cool. It’s crazy crazy. It’ll make your jaw drop. Watch as glass shatters, AI grabs onto the nearest object when lifted into the air and you’ll see the entire environment breaks at its seams. Just watch and be awe-struck.
Sam & Max: Season One was one of the first real success stories of digital distribution, where folks could download episodes of the game from month to month, and then after everything had been released, pick up a DVD copy of all the episodes with some extra content. Season Two launches on November 8th (tomorrow, kids!), putting Sam & Max right back into the fray.
We sat down with Telltale Games founder and CEO Dan Connors during E For All to talk about all things Sam & Max, Bone, and what’s coming up for the young studio. We started off by waxing poetic about E for All or E3 possibly moving to Vegas, so we could have done this over drinks and then hit the tables. We’d like to think Sam & Max would have been proud.
Reader Sparticatina of Ysera sends us this excellent shot of a new take on Shatterspear Village (otherwise known as the dancing Troll village hidden away between Moonglade and Darkshore). In my humble opinion, the scenery is much improved by the addition of Gnomes, thanks to the Brewfest beer goggles!

With a resume that rivals the length of Webster’s Dictionary (fourth edition), Halo alums Hardy LeBel and Anders Hejdenberg have decided to branch off and create their own tyrannical development house in Seattle, Tyrant Studios.
Like we said, both LeBel and Hejdenberg spew industry experience with LeBel previously working with Bungie on projects including Halo, Halo 2 and Oni (instant street cred right there). But that isn’t all, LeBel also carries development experience with a hand in games like Vigilante 8, Jade Empire, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, SOCOM 3 and the list goes on and on. Oh, did we mention that their seven employees also back a diverse industry resume including work on games like Viva Pi

We’re happy for the PSP’s newfound success in Japan. In fact, last week it sold 184,610 systems in Japan alone. That’s more than double of last week’s numbers! (That’s actually more than any other system, minus the DS.)
But what could possibly have caused the sales increase? Could it have been Minna no Golf Portable 2? Only three games for the system made the top 50 charts this week, so it couldn’t have been that. Perhaps it was firmware update 3.80 and its ability to record 1seg TV shows? It actually might just be that …
Joystiq reader Oscar has some wonderfully talented friends. For his birthday, Oscar received the pictured Boo Mario cake from pals Lory, John and Zack. Here are more pictures of the pastry. Awesome work! Check out the highlights for today:
Okay, okay enough videos already, we get it. But come on, it is Halloween and you have to admit it is quite enjoyable watching brand new trailers of your favorite horror games … right? Right? We knew we’d win you over.
Atari just released a newly new Alone in the Dark 5 trailer entitled “Central Park”. From what we can tell there isn’t any in-game or gameplay footage, but there’s a heck of a lot of artistic license going on. The music, the camera shots and lighting (oh the lighting!) make for one enjoyable cinema experience. Enjoy the latest Alone in the Dark trailer, because we’re not sure how many more videos we’ll be posting today seeing that we’re kind of hitting our limit. And you probably are too.
Have you ever seen anything so … boxed in your entire life? What wouldn’t you give to see that hot little piece of rumbling plastic shed its outer layer to reveal the deliciousness within, like some sort of be-dual-sticked piece of electronic corn?
… OK, so we can’t claim to understand unboxing fetishists entirely, but we can at least try to make up for it by appealing to their basest desires. Engadget Tokyo has one of the first retail DualShock 3s and they’re taking the clamshell off … slow.
So, you’ve got a shiny new Xbox 360 and you’re all set up to play except for one thing: your Gamer Picture. It’s an important step in creating your online identity after all. Heck, even veterans like to change things up once in a while. So, if you find yourself still saddled with stupid green circles or that weird Darth Vader skull thing, we’ve got just the solution for you. Introducing the Gamerpic Scout from MyGamerCard.net. More or less, the Scout is simply a Gamerpic search engine. Just enter a word — “zombie” for example — and you’ll be directed to all the Gamerpics associated with that word (you can also search for pics by Gamertag). Click on one of the icons that pops up — let’s say Master Chief from Halo 3 — and it will tell you how much it costs and whether or not it’s still available.
One of the more interesting features is that the engine keeps track of both the most and least popular Gamerpics. You’d be surprised how many Gamerpics aren’t being used by anyone at all (mostly sports related ones). If it’s time for a change, or if you’re new to the scene, head over to MyGamerCard.net and check it out.
